Over the past few weeks, the most ambitious Fantom hackathon yet concluded with winners sharing a prize pool of $300,000+, the Gas Monetization program grew with a quarterly bonus, the Fantom ecosystem expanded with several new stablecoins and tokens from LayerZero and Axelar, and AWS released a workshop on how to create games on Fantom!

News and developments

July 4

Fantom Hackathon Q2 2023 closed submissions with over 1000 participants! Over the following weeks, our judges determined the winners that shared the $300,000+ prize pool.

July 5

The Ecosystem Vault v2.0 governance proposal passed, which will distribute all current and future FTM in the Ecosystem Vault through Gitcoin Grants matching funding rounds!

July 6

LayerZero introduced its own versions of popular stablecoins and tokens to Fantom — USDC, USDT, WETH, and WBTC — increasing the liquidity available in the ecosystem.

July 19

Gas Monetization on Fantom expanded by adding a quarterly bonus in which the top twelve earning projects are rewarded with extra FTM every three months.

July 25

LayerZero and Axelar have enriched the suite of assets available in the Fantom ecosystem by introducing their own versions of USDC, USDT, WETH, and WBTC.

July 26

The first-ever Ask the Team series was published where the Fantom team took the opportunity to answer questions asked by the incredible community.

August 1

Fantom Hackathon Q2 2023 concluded with 1,114 participants and the winners of the many prizes were announced, including an NFT cloud server rental service and a P2P lending platform!

August 2

fWallet received its latest update that brought WalletConnect v2 support, private key and mnemonic phrase export for software wallets, and Fantom Name Service integration.

August 10

AWS released a workshop on its platform to teach Web3 developers the skills needed for building decentralized fantasy games on the Fantom blockchain.
