New Sonic Chain and S Token
Michael Kong released a blog post, shedding more light on the new Sonic chain, organization, slate of innovative new partners, and building of a bold, community-centric brand.

Opera Chain Upgraded
With over 80% of staked FTM on Sonic nodes, Opera is officially considered upgraded! Our new, innovative technology enables the chain to achieve:

⚡ 2,000 TPS — realistic traffic
🔄 4,000 TPS — token swaps
💸 10,000 TPS — token transfers
⏱️ 1-second finality

Sonic Logo Reveal
During his Consensus 2024 keynote, Michael Kong gave a sneak peek of the new Sonic logo. Plenty of work remains to build Sonic’s visual identity, but we’re excited about the brand's direction.

Fantom Partners With Google Cloud
We partnered with Google Cloud! We'll launch initiatives for Fantom developers to build next-gen dApps using Google Cloud's advanced AI and infrastructure. Plus, Google Cloud now runs a validator on our network!

Sonic Proposal 1
Our first governance proposal for the upcoming Sonic chain passed with over 99% voting in favor! FTM will now be compatible with Sonic’s new S token, enabling 1:1 swaps at launch.

Sonic Community Council
We announced the formation of the Sonic Community Council, an autonomous body of prominent community members supporting the Fantom community’s upgrade from Opera to the new Sonic chain.
