SUPA Foundation — Fantom Ecosystem Spotlight

Welcome back to the Fantom Ecosystem Spotlight, where we present the many exciting projects on the Fantom platform. This time, we’re featuring SUPA Foundation!

Read about their unique trading card game, how they leverage blockchain technology to offer a better gaming experience, and their reasons for deploying on Fantom.

How would you explain SUPA Foundation to a stranger at a party?

SUPA Foundation is a play-and-earn metaverse that includes diverse games intertwined with an intriguing storyline. Our inaugural game, Internal Conflict, is a one-of-a-kind hybrid of trading cards and board games that employs exclusive gameplay mechanics.

Alongside this, players have the option to follow our ongoing narrative, which is presently in its fourth chapter and continuously growing to reveal more about the SUPAVerse.

How does the Internal Conflict game work?

Internal Conflict is a trading card game that offers a fresh take on traditional and digital trading card games. It pits two players against each other, each playing as either a SUPACell or Virus. The gameplay centers around card placement on the battleground. Both players must carefully choose where to place their cards on the field, which can then be moved to interact with other cards.

Another key mechanic is resource management. Players must choose which type of resource they want to add to their pool each turn, as this will enable them to play cards. Additionally, the game features "Shot" cards that can manipulate the battlefield in various ways, including damaging opponents' units, healing one's own units, and moving units around.

Players can collect cards to use in their decks, but they can also level up their existing cards to increase their stats and abilities. Each level provides a small stat boost, giving players a slight edge without disrupting the game balance.

The player who wins is determined by whose SUPA Organism survives until the end of the match.

So what are these SUPA Organisms?

SUPA Organisms are NFTs that can transform into either a SUPACell or Virus NFT, serving as the heroes you play in the Internal Conflict Game. These NFTs are available for purchase via their portal and possess varying traits that determine their rarity score, which ranges from 270 to 540.

NFTs with higher rarity scores have more special abilities that can be utilized in the game. In addition, each SUPACell and Virus has a unique Mutation Point score, with the highest score determining the dominant mutation and corresponding special ability (hero power) that can be utilized in the game. In the near future, they can be bred to mint future versions of SUPA Organisms with different traits and abilities.

How do you plan to make the game accessible to players who are not familiar with blockchain technology?

Ensuring accessibility to all players, including those unfamiliar with blockchain technology, has always been a priority for us. To achieve this, we are implementing step-by-step guides, continuous educational resources, and have made it easier to enter the game by offering free one-click minting of starter SUPA Organisms and decks. This allows players to try out the game before making a purchase.

Will you be onboarding gamers from both the traditional gaming world and Web3?

In developing the mechanics and economy of Internal Conflict, we made a conscious decision to bridge the gap between the traditional gaming world and the Web3 ecosystem. Our goal is to bring in players who enjoy card games and collecting in-game assets, regardless of their background in gaming or blockchain technology.

By embracing blockchain, we offer a more fulfilling way to play and enjoy card games, with the added benefits of decentralization, transparency, and security. For existing Web3 users, Internal Conflict provides a unique and exciting gaming experience that sets itself apart from other blockchain games.

We believe that by breaking down the barriers between traditional gaming and Web3, we can introduce a new wave of players to the world of blockchain gaming, while also providing an innovative and engaging game for existing Web3 enthusiasts.

And what do you believe are the benefits of blockchain in gaming?

Blockchain gaming provides several benefits that are not available in other forms of gaming. One significant advantage is the ability to monetize in-game assets by allowing players to resell their virtual assets for real money.

Furthermore, blockchain technology offers the convenience of keeping collectibles in mint condition as it eliminates the requirement for physical storage space. In addition, blockchain gaming facilitates play-and-earn mechanics that would otherwise be unfeasible through traditional means.

How will you balance the play-to-earn mechanics that might attract financially-motivated players with an engaging gaming experience?

Our top priority for Internal Conflict is to create a unique and engaging gaming experience that will attract and retain players, both new and existing. We believe that by building a game that stands out, we can pique the interest of potential players and provide a compelling reason for them to stay.

Assets earned in the game are tradeable on the secondary marketplace, offering players the opportunity to monetize their in-game assets. While playing the game is the best way to earn these assets, a SUPA Organism NFT will enable players to passively generate in-game currency by logging in periodically.

This currency can then be redeemed for in-game assets on the marketplace and sold on the secondary marketplace. In addition to offering a marketplace for in-game assets, we also plan to host tournaments with exclusive rewards for winners including tokens.

These rewards will include tokens and other in-game items, providing additional incentives for players to participate and engage with Internal Conflict. Overall, our focus is on creating a game that is both enjoyable and rewarding for players, with multiple ways to earn and monetize in-game assets.

While difficult to achieve for trading card games, will you attempt to avoid a pay-to-win scenario within the game?

While investing money in Internal Conflict can speed up the acquisition of a wider range of cards and enhance the versatility of deck construction, it won't significantly increase a player's power level. This is because the stat boosts gained from leveling up cards only provide a slight edge in competition. In reality, a player's skill in card placement and strategic use of their cards is what will ultimately determine their success.

For those who prefer not to spend money, there are still ways to compete effectively. With the right skills and strategy, free-to-play players can close the gap between themselves and those who invest money. Additionally, Internal Conflict offers various game modes that allow players to compete against others of similar skill levels.

Our aim is to create a game that offers a fair and balanced playing field for all players, regardless of their investment. While spending money can offer advantages, we believe that skill and strategy should always be the most important factors in determining a player's success.

And can you describe one of the biggest challenges you faced during development?

One of the biggest challenges we've faced as a company was the bear market that hit shortly after our token sale. During this time, there was a general lack of interest in Web3 products and services, which made it difficult to attract new users.

However, we were able to navigate this difficult period by carefully managing our resources and planning for a sustainable runway. Despite the increased workload caused by our limited resources, we remain committed to producing high-quality work and continuing to build a strong foundation for the future.

We believe that enduring the bear market has been an important lesson for us, and it has taught us the value of careful planning, efficient resource allocation, and perseverance in the face of adversity. Moving forward, we are confident that these lessons will help us to overcome future challenges and continue to grow and succeed as a company.

Did you make any tough decisions during the development process?

During the development of our game, Internal Conflict, we created the captivating SUPAVerse metaverse to provide our community with an immersive experience and engage them with the lore of the SUPA Foundation.

Although the bear market and waning interest in the crypto industry led to a decline in user activity within the SUPAVerse, we approached this as an opportunity to focus on perfecting Internal Conflict.

As a team, we recognize that setbacks and changes in direction are a natural part of any project, and we responded by pooling our resources and concentrating on delivering an outstanding game for our community.

While the SUPAVerse is currently on hold, we remain optimistic about its potential for future opportunities, whether during an upturn in market conditions or when we have more resources available.

In the meantime, we remain committed to engaging with our community and exploring alternative ways for them to experience the exciting lore and world of the SUPA Foundation.

What has been your most memorable moment while working on SUPA?

One of the most unforgettable moments working on SUPA was experiencing the first test gameplay of our game "Internal Conflict." Witnessing the culmination of our team's hard work and dedication was truly inspiring and reminded us of the limitless possibilities that can be achieved with perseverance and passion.

It was a powerful reminder that even the smallest of steps can lead to great accomplishments.

Why did you decide to build a game on Fantom?

Fantom is ideal for blockchain gaming due to its fast confirmation times, zero downtime, and low gas fees. We also felt very welcomed by the awesome Fantom community who supported us throughout our journey.

We are immensely grateful for the warm reception we have received from the Fantom community. However, we have noticed that, as with many other blockchain ecosystems, there is currently a lack of gamers in the Web3 space.

As pioneers in this industry, it is essential to continue educating the wider gaming community about the advantages of blockchain gaming over traditional means, and why Fantom is an excellent choice for blockchain gaming.

It will require everyone in the Fantom community's collective effort to spread awareness and educate others about the various projects on Fantom, ensuring that Fantom thrives and dominates the market.

Let's work together and make this happen!

What does the future look like for SUPA?

We have big plans for the future of SUPA Foundation, including expanding the Internal Conflict game with new expansions and bringing in a diverse range of games to the SUPAVerse.

We believe in the potential of blockchain gaming and we are excited to embark on this journey with the support of the Fantom community. Our goal is to become the top GameFi platform on Fantom and ultimately, the leading blockchain game in the market. With the community's help, we can achieve these ambitions and make the Fantom community proud.
