Gitcoin program opens for applications
We are thrilled to announce that the new Fantom-Gitcoin grants program is open to applicants! In this test round, Gitcoin has deployed on the Fantom network to allow builders to access funding via a democratic process that engages community members to support promising projects directly.
Virtually any project building on the Fantom network can apply to be featured on the Gitcoin Grants Beta platform, where users can select and donate to the projects they value most. User contributions work like votes, and the Fantom Foundation will use quadratic funding mechanisms to issue matching rewards to the most popular user-selected projects.
The Fantom Foundation has earmarked 125,000 FTM for matching funds in this initial trial round.
Gitcoin has long been a cornerstone in funding open-source software in Web3. To date, Gitcoin has contributed over $72M, onboarded 312,000 active developers, and supported over 2,500 development projects through bounties, hackathons, and grant programs.
In addition to streamlining the funding process for Fantom ecosystem builders, the Fantom Incentive Program will provide the following:
- Greater support across project verticals, including DeFi, gaming, NFTs, infrastructure, etc.
- An empowered Fantom community with decentralized voting on the grant allocations.
- Support for up-and-coming projects new to Fantom.
“We’re excited to see Fantom leveraging Gitcoin’s grants protocol to fund digital public goods in their local community. Gitcoin Grants has helped countless projects, developers, designers, artists, and builders achieve their visions, and we hope the protocol will enable other programs to do the same in a scalable, permissionless way.” – Azeem Khan, Gitcoin Head of Partnerships
“We could not be more excited to welcome Gitcoin to the Fantom ecosystem and to allow our incredible community to further support projects. We look forward to introducing this proven incentive structure to our community and rewarding the exciting projects that are being built on Fantom.” – Michael Kong, Fantom CEO
